Why Africa
There are 24 million people living with HIV/AIDS in Africa and the pandemic has created 12 million orphans. AIDS has killed so many people that 54% of the population of Africa is under the age of 15. This compares to 16% in Europe. At the two St James we believe that the Church in Africa has a key role to play and that the UK church should be offering resources to equip the African Church to respond effectively to the AIDS pandemic.
